Day 1 of the Count Down

I'm not the type of person you expect to start a health blog.  I've been overweight or obese my entire life.  Despite numerous attempts at weight loss I am still obese.  Weight loss is a puzzle in my life that I have yet to solve, but it is a puzzle I still believe I can solve.
I remember going to the doctor when I was a child and hearing the doctor tell my mother that I needed to lose weight.  One year, for Christmas, I asked Santa for a kids fitness set.  I remember people telling me not to sit on things because I would break them.  One time a porch swing did break because there were too many people piled on it and of course it was blamed on me.  I started Slim Fast for the first time in 7th grade.  It never seemed to make sense to me when I saw skinny people eating greasy burgers and I would fight so hard to lose each pound only to watch them come back with interest.  A few years ago, I decided I had to do something different.  Rather than jumping head first into the next popular diet trend, I would first try to learn why I am this way.  Through well thought out diet changes and a change of attitude towards food, I have lost some weight and for the first time in my life, I have not gained it back again.  Now I seem stuck, unable to lose more despite my efforts.  It is time to take up my research again, and try to make changes to continue my success.
My goal with this blog is to share the journey with you, dear readers.  I plan to share the lessons I learn along the way, and hope that others can learn from my successes and failures.  If I can help one person who struggles with me, this blog will be a success.  If there is one thing I have learned on the journey thus far, it is this: It's not about where you are now.  It's about where you are going.
